Baby Crib Bedding is Important: Choose and Use it Right

Your baby’s crib is his safe haven and the place he’ll spend most of his days and nights during the earliest years.  This is why it’s important that you know the best practices of selection and using baby crib bedding, so your baby has the most comfy and safe rest environment possible.  You’re just about to discover everything you need to know to make sure you select the right baby crib bedding set and use it wisely.

Dos When Selecting a Crib Baby Bedding Set

  1. Choose a crib bedding set that fits your crib’s specific measurements. Sheets must fit snuggly around the mattress to be safe for your baby.
  2. Select a baby bedding set with a higher thread count to ensure that your baby’s delicate skin feels good during every nap and all night long.
  3. Read the bedding tag to make sure it’s made of baby-safe fabric like: organic, hypoallergenic, 100% cotton, wool or other fabrics that are safe for a baby’s gentle skin.  Do some research on this topic before devising your selection.
  4. Crib bedding can also fit on a toddler bed, so before you select a bedding pattern, decide if you want to keep the same bedding through the toddler years.  If so, select a less “babyish” looking design.
  5. Choose a crib bedding set that’s from a reputable company, so you’re sure it’s made with your baby’s comfort and safety in mind.
  6. Get a few extra sheet sets, so you are prepared to change your baby’s crib sheets when surprising diaper leaks occur.
  7. Choose a baby crib bedding set that offers the max, that way it’s easier to decorate your baby’s nursery.  Some sets come with baby bedding, plus lots of accessories that match.

Dos When Putting Crib Bedding in the Crib

  1.  Double check that the fitted sheet hugs the mattress.
  2. Remove all heavy blankets and pillows from the crib until your baby can sit up on-his-own.
  3. Don’t use bumpers in the crib.
  4. Use the blanket that comes in the baby crib bedding set as either a play mat or wall accessory when your baby is too young to have it in the crib.
  5. Never let the top sheet go above your baby’s chest to keep your baby safe from possible suffocation.
  6.  During colder nights, consider dressing your baby in a sleep sack in place of using a heavy blanket.
  7. Attach a mobile to the crib rail when your baby is an infant, but remove the mobile when your baby can sit up on his own.

Use Crib Bedding as Inspiration for the Nursery Décor

I’d recommend acquiring your baby’s crib bedding set before you decorate the nursery.  Use the crib bedding design and colors to inspire the nursery décor.  You can select one of the more muted colors and use that on the walls.  Then if you want to add some pizzazz you can paint an accent wall with one of the brighter colors in the bedding set.  If your baby bedding has patterns, then you might consider adding some of those onto the walls as well, in either a border or wall art.  Basically, select a bedding set you love, with beautiful colors and stunning design and create a nursery with the same gorgeous appeal.

I thought this looked really cute when I ordered it and didn’t want to break the bank on a crib set. amazon was offering this $10 cheaper than other stores, so it seemed like a good deal. When I recieved it, it was better than expected. The quilt is not just a print of the animals, but it is fabric pieces sewn together to make up all the animals!! I love it! It is so nice that I plan to hang it from a shelf in my little boys room to have it always being displayed, much too nice to use as a blanket, but it will look cute as comforter when he gets into a toddler bed! It is just as great of quility *if not better* as the sets that sell for $150+ I also like thw fact that I could just buy it in a 4 piece basic set and not a 10 piece with a bunch of stuff I won’t use, yet if there is a matching item you like that you want, you can also find it here. So nice!
