No other weight loss article will recommend the same 1800 calories that this one does. The extra calories are great for producing just a bit more energy. Becoming a new mom is exhausting work. Staying healthy on a low calorie diet is hard for a new mom especially if she’s breastfeeding and sharing half of her calorie intake with baby. Allowing your calorie intake to drop below 1800 calories can endanger your life and the life of your child too. Isn’t it nice to know that, for once, eating plenty of food can help you lose weight?

It takes the average woman the same amount of time to lose her baby weight as it did to gain it, about nine months. The common rule seems to be “nine up, nine down.” This is actually logical, as it takes you about the same amount of time to lose all your baby weight as it did to gain it in the first place.

This can allow you to put it into perspective rather than try to rush the process too much. If your baby was born several months ago and you’re still carrying around some extra weight, it’s perfectly normal. Just be attentive and you will soon drop those extra pounds. When your body is ready to drop that weight, it will!

Going on a diet is not the solution! You may think this is odd, since you want to lose weight. But it’s not a good idea for new mothers to attempt to restrict their diets too much. It could even prevent you from losing weight if you limit foods in your diet that your body needs right now. You most likely have plenty to think about with your newborn baby, without having to count every calorie in your diet.

You definitely don’t want to put yourself in the position of having to deprive yourself of enjoying your food. If you just listen to your body, you will lose that weight!

Losing this weight can be a pain in the behind for some. While others find it easy. A lot of factors play a part in how easily (or not) you are able to shed your pregnancy weight. Everything from your pre-pregnancy weight to your exercise routine will factor in to the rate at which you can get back to your “old” size. We are all different, stay calm. There is no absolute method or time frame that you need to worry about.
